Allow Brother Hilaal's Classes to Continue

“Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.” [Sunan Ibn Mâjah]

The Director General of The London Central (Regent’s Park) Mosque, Dr. Ahmad Al-Dubayan, has requested that all classes organised by brother Hilaal Abu Bakar be discontinued. This is for both brothers and sisters. No specific reasons have been given at this time.

As many of us either regularly attend the circles or join when our lives permit, stopping the classes would be very disappointing to say the least. I myself as a convert have greatly benefited from his Knowledge and would wish his work be allowed to continue and supported at the Islamic Centre.

For the past 10 years, many brothers and sisters have benefited from brother Hilaal’s classes. Organised free of charge and selflessly by brother Hilaal, they range from Quran recitation, to the interpretation of the teachings of the Quran free from cultural bias, to dealing with everyday issues we face as Muslims living in the UK. It is of no doubt that the classes contribute to fulfilling the role of the mosque within society by promoting a tolerant and integrated Islam.

Many new Muslims come to the Central Mosque because of its reputation and central location in search of knowledge, support and guidance. Many worshipers are very aware of brother Hilaal’s dedication in helping new Muslims and the youth, and regularly recommend brother Hilaal as a teacher. It would be a disservice to the new Muslims if there were one less person of knowledge to help them on their journey.

For the sake of Allah please demonstrate your support of brother Hilaal's good work at the Central Mosque by signing and forwarding this petition to as many people as possible before Tue 14th April.
