TORTURED IN LIFE AND REVERED IN DEATH.

The 17th captive elephant was tortured to death in Kerala last night. Enclosed here with ease is the video graph of an elephant named Oottoly Shivan which was used for the elephant feeding ceremony one week ago. This elephant have an original name of Kadavilan Appu which was kept by an unauthorized elephant dealer and was brought to the house of Oottoly Krishnankutty during 2012. When Krishnankutty tried to teach new commands by using Iron objects, the front leg of the elepha...nt got fractured during 2012. After that fatal fracture, the elephant was not able to move its right side front leg. But the Oottoly Krishnankutty generated money by renting it out for festival parades. The officials of departments of Police, Forest and Animal Husbandry all such cruelty after receiving bribes from Oottoly Krishnankutty. During 2016 this elephant was forced to move in three legs as a part of the Thrissur Pooram festival parade with tacit support of these officials. At that time HATF has clicked its photograph which is now one of the proofs in front of the Supreme Court of India. This elephant was brought for an elephant feeding ceremony and was compelled to walk on its 3 functioning legs. Due to the imbalance in the walking pattern the elephant fell down and the fractured bone came out of the flesh and skin of that elephant. The elephant was in a critical stage for the last 6 days. The fracture of the elephant remained un-attended and was not repaired for a full 5 years. This sad fact exposes the inefficiency and incapacity of the veterinarians of the State of Kerala to treat these animals. This 17th elephant which was tortured to death was only 25 years old. Yesterday another wild elephant was found dead near the State's capital in Vithura forest area. The cause of the death of such wild elephants was electrocution by illegal farm owners who encroached the elephant corridor for farming. With this incident the total number of wild elephants found dead in various forest area of Kerala increased by 1 to a total of 178 dead wild elephant in 2017The 17th captive elephant was tortured to death in Kerala last night. I just can't get over the stark irony of how they treat elephants in Kerala!! They torture, neglect, and terrorize these gentle giants when they are alive and worship them, light lamp etc., and shed crocodile tears after they die!! WHY NOT REVERE THEM WHEN THEY ARE ALIVE?

DEAR SIRS,

ANOTHER TORMENTED ELEPHANT HAS DIED. THIS TIME AT THE GURUVAYUR POONATHOOR KOTHA, OR THE ELEPHANT CONCENTRATION CAMP- AN ELEPHANT FACTORY FARM. GURUVAYUR  ADITHIAN WAS ONLY 23 YEARS OLD. AN INFORMANT SAID ALL FOUR LEGS HAD INTERNAL INJURIES AND ALSO SUSPECTED IMPACTION ( SEVERE DIGESTIVE ISSUES) WHAT ANOTHER COLOSSAL LOSS OF ANOTHER YOUNG BULL ELEPHANT. THEY ARE ALL DROPPING DEAD LIKE FLIES. THIS IS THE FOURTH ELEPHANT DEATH IN 2017, AND TWO WITHIN A SHORT SPAN OF OVER 24 HOURS. WHILE THE DETAILED CAUSE OF THE DEATH IS STILL BEING DETERMINED, THIS ELEPHANT HAS SUFFERED BARBARIC TORTURE BY NUMEROUS MAHOUTS. THE INFORMANT ALSO CLAIMS THAT THE VETARINARY CARE WAS INADEQUATE. IT HAS BEEN JUST OVER 24 HOURS SINCE ONE BULL ELEPHANT DIED IN ERANAKALUM DISTRICT YESTERDAY.

IN DECEMBER 2013 THERE WERE 59 ELEPHANTS BUT IN JUST THREE YEARS SEVEN ELEPHANTS DIED IN THAT DREADFUL PLACE.

HIS DEATH HAS BECOME A STATISTICAL NUMBER SADLY. BETWEEN JANUARY 2016 AND 24 FEBRUARY 2017 ALREADY 30 ELEPHANTS HAVE DIED.

WE DEMAND A COMPLETE DIFFERENT APPROACH OF HOW TO HANDLE AND MANAGE THE CAPTIVE ELEPHANTS. THEY ARE SENTIENT, INTELLIGENT SOCIAL BEINGS, WHO ARE NOW DEPRIVED FROM THEIR MOST BASIC NEEDS AS SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, ACCES TO FOOD AND WATER AND BATHS WHENEVER THEY NEED AND WANT IT... INSTEAD THEY ARE CHAINED, SHACKLED, BEATEN, THEY ARE SICK, BLINDED, INJURED, AND EVEN THEN FORCED IN PARADES AND FESTIVALS UNDER A SOARCHING SUN... IF THESE GENTLE CREATURES ARE WORSHIPPED AS GODS THEN IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT THE WHOLE SICKENING EXPLOITING MONEY BUSINESS OF TEMPLES AND TREKKING TOURISM COMES TO AN END AND THAT THESE MAJESTIC SENTIENT BEINGS ARE GIVEN BACK THEIR DIGNITY AND FREEDOM.

PLEASE START AN INVESTIGATION TO THE NUMEROUS SUPICIOUS DEATHS OF THESE ELEPHANTS IN KERALA AND TAKE ACTION TO GIVE THEM A BETTER LIFE.
