STOP all credit transactions for sale of ivory, rhino horn and other endangered animal products

The majestic wildlife of Africa is under siege and at risk of extinction within a decade due to the demand for ivory in China and other parts of the far east to make trinkets, statues and chop sticks so the newly rich can show off and claim that they have made it. Using blood ivory for this kind of vanity is absolutely senseless and barbaric and needs to be brought to a halt immediately. Similarly, Rhino horn which is made of keratin, the same protein that goes to make human finger nails, is attributed some magical powers in traditional Chinese medicine. If that were true we could chew our own finger nails and get rid of cancer. It is these completely nonsensical, unproven and unscientific practices in China and Vietnam that are driving the rhinos to extinction. More than a thousand rhinos were killed in Kruger National Park last year alone. The number of elephants killed in the last 3 years stands at a staggering 100,000 and more! This brutal and senseless carnage has to stop and the only way it will is if we force the demand for these products to dry up. What is abominable is that the sale of these products is either legal or carried out without any consequences in those countries. We cannot expect China and Vietnam to change their ways anytime soon and by the time they do those animals will be extinct. However, just as many airlines stepped up after the murder of Cecil and banned transport of animal trophies we ask the major credit card companies to stop doing business with these unscrupulous individuals and stores and not authorize any credit transactions involving endangered or illegal animal products.

Dear CEO:

By not authorizing credit transactions for ivory, rhino horn and other endangered animal products and further by not doing any business with carving factories and stores that sell these items you can make a big difference to saving our precious wildlife for future generations.

Thank you in advance!
