Stop Construction of Harmful & Unsightly Cell Towers in Hacienda Heights

Please help your fellow neighbors and sign our petition to oppose the installation of a 75' cell tower at the Shell Gas Station located at 3030 S. Hacienda Blvd.

Failure to Meet Burden of Proof

Verizon wireless has failed to meet the burden of proof to show a significant gap in coverage to prove the facility is needed per the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Verizon has failed to conduct independent studies to substantiate the burden of proof. In fact, in Verizon's advertised map, it states that Hacienda Heights has "excellent signal" coverage.

75 Foot Green Toilet Brush

The 75' tower will far exceed the building code maximum height requirements of 35' in Hacienda Heights. This towering construction is adjacent to residences and is ugly and intrusive. We are not willing to jeopardize our health, safety and property values to improve the cell service of commuters on Colima and Hacienda Blvd.

The Flood Gates Have Been Opened

Hacienda Heights currently has 19 cell towers and 69 antennas (from www.antennasearch.com).
In adjacent La Habra Heights, there are 10 cell towers and 40 antennas. In adjacent City of Industry there are over 19 cell towers and over 126 antennas (from www.antennasearch.com).

Cell towers are needed only 3-5 miles apart for 3G and 4G purposes but at this project location (3030 S. Hacienda Blvd.) we have 2 additional cell towers within walking distance. We are being flooded with unnecessary cell towers for our small population and LA County Planning is not keeping track of all existing cell towers. When asked by a LA County resident, LA County Planning stated they did not know how to get a compilation of all existing cell towers in a particular area.

Declining Property Values

Cell towers negatively impact your home property values. Multiple surveys have been conducted:

94% of respondents said a nearby cell tower or group of antennas would negatively impact interest in a property or the price they would be willing to pay for it.

Homebuyers would pay from 10%–19% less to over 20% less for a property if it were in close proximity to a cell phone base station.

Cellular Emissions Continue to Show Links to Cancer

On March 28, 2018, National Toxicology Program Study released a peer reviewed study demonstrating new clear evidence that cell radiofrequency radiation GSM and CDMA modulation has cancerous effects:
Regarding health risks, in a U.S. National Toxicology study where 3,000 rats and mice were continuously exposed to high levels of RF for two years, it was found that about 8 percent of the animals developed brain tumors and other complications. Also, a recent pilot study of 6 California firefighters focused on neurological symptoms of the six firefighters who had been working for up to five years in stations with cell towers revealed development of symptoms of slowed reaction time, lack of focus, lack of impulse control, severe headaches, anesthesia-like sleep, sleep deprivation, depression, and tremors.

We need residents to attend even if they don't speak. If we don't have enough attendance, LA County will not make special arrangements for Hacienda Heights in the future. Thank you.
