The Mackay City Library building was built for that purpose, is open and airy, and surrounded by trees, gardens and lawns. There is plenty of parking and it is easily accessible by walking to older readers who live nearby.
If the library is moved to the Dome it will be in the heart of the city, in an upstairs windowless area designed as offices. Free parking will be used by shoppers. The ambience is dire.
