Iberia Parish Police allowing the beating of dog posted by owner on Facebook

A few weeks ago, Kristy Mallet posted on Facebook about beating her dog due to the dog eating out of her trash can. She posted pictures of her bruised hand and continued to post in regards to getting a 4x4 and hitting the dog next time not to hurt herself. Many many people have reached out to the Iberia Parish police department who have seen the bruising on Ms. Mallet's hands and advised the dog was fine. That's all well and good but this woman has clearly broken the law by way of violating the Louisiana State Statue in which the police are refusing to enforce.

We need to take a stand and push the Iberia Parish district Attorney to bring in outside officers to assist in he investigation as it appears the officers are incompetent to proceed with doing this job. Calls have gone rudely in which officers and dispatch have told callers that it is none of our business and have hung up the call.

Please sign to show the Iberia Parish law enforcement and District Attorney's office that we will not allow law enforcement to pick and choose what laws they would like to enforce.

Dear Mr. M. Bofill Duhé

I am writing in to you in response to a incident that occurred approximately January 30, 2016. Ms. Kristy Mallet posted a picture on Facebook showing a bruised hand in which she stated that she had beaten her dog because the dog was rummaging through her trash. Mind you, this is to be her dog.

Calls were made to the Iberia Parish police in which nothing has been done.

As you have come across in your experience, there are many forms of abuse. Animal abuse is one of the many. Animal abuse has been proven to be a factor in many other types of abuses and crimes in which have turned fatal, such as mental, emotional, child, spousal abuse and these people are are five times more likely to commit violent crimes against other people.

Today, I myself, along with many others called the sheriff's office to file a report. It appears that I was not the only one who was told that it was none of my business and hung up on. I find this to be rude and condescending as this is in NO WAY an law enforcement officer is to conduct business with citizens attempting to file a report.

I am asking you to do what is right in the light of the Louisiana State Statues that are in place for situations such as these regarding animal cruelty and have an outside department investigate the reports as it appears that the officers in Iberia Parish are biased and/or incompetent to handle the job that they themselves have taken the oath to do; Protect and Serve.

Thank you in advance for you time.
