Demand for Lift of the Ban on Transexualism in the United States Military

In the recent years following the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" put in place by former president Bill Clinton on 1 October 1993, there has been a significant increase in the number of service members in the United States military who identify openly as homosexual. Now we are faced with a new obstacle: transexualism in the military. According to Army Publishing Directorate 40-501; Standards of Medical Fitness, Page 33, Article 3-35, the "condition" of transexualism will "render an individual administratively unfit" for service. Transexualism and "other disorders manifesting disturbances of perception, thinking, emotional control or behavior sufficiently severe that the Soldier’s ability to perform military duties effectively is significantly impaired" are reasons for separation from the Army, according to Army Publishing Directorate 135-178; Enlisted Administrative Separations, page 69, Article 6-7a. Lift the ban on transexualism in the military now, sign this petition.
