Give us our Music back

Hold up, did I just heard music websites are banned from school? When did the board of education get so selfish? First they create uniforms, they give us state test that are used to judge teacher’s teaching qualities. Now music? Don’t worry the scholars at JBA found a way to turn up their music. They have found a music website that’s not banned. But why ban music? I know some songs are inappropriate and it slows down internet connection but that’s the only thing we had besides friends at school. We must turn up the music and let it groove us.Let's show them who's the boss of school.

When I complete class work without listening to music, I get distracted easily. When I complete work while listening to music, I’m more productive and focused. The way music helps me be more productive by blocking out other distractions and sounds which cause you to be more focused and productive. There are a few schools that allow students to listen to music; most schools ban students from listening to music. Allowing students to listen to music in class is usually the teachers decision. Therefore, students must be allowed to listen to music in class.

Furthermore, enabling music in class will definitely help students to concentrate. According to scilearn.com, music calms hyperactive children and adults. As a matter of fact, this shows that music would absolutely help students to be calm in class and concentrate more efficiently on school work. In addition, articlesbase.com states that music increases productivity by 10%. As a result, it’s certain that music allows students to focus and motivates them to be more productive. Concentration from students will increase when music is allowed in class.

Additionally, legalizing music in class will significantly reduce errors from students. A study by med.stanford.edu shows music improves test scores, raises IQ’s by 9 points, and gives the ability to study longer. Specifically, test and IQ scores increasing means that students taking the test and IQ’s are making less errors on the tests and IQ’s. And the ability to study longer definitely helps decrease those errors. To put it in another way, scilearn.com says that upbeat music reduces stress by 41%. This shows that when having less stress, absolutely helps with lowering the amount of errors. Certainly, tolerating music in class would help improve accuracy.

Although, some people may argue that listening to music in class will cause teachers to complain that students are not paying attention in class or learning. This is an understandable concern, however according to articles base.com, music improves listening and learning abilities, and improves focus and updates memory. Further, med.stanford.edu says that music stimulates both sides of the brain for more efficient learning. In the final analysis, articlesbase.com also mentions that music improves clarity and creativity.

Under those circumstances, listening to music must be tolerated in classrooms. In order for this to happen, students need to create petitions, ask parents to write letters or send e-mails to the principal of your school. For the most part, students and parents should have a conference with their principal. Music is a big part of children’s lives; based on mlive.com, adolescents listen to music almost 21 hours per week. It would definitely be unfair for students to not be allowed to listen to music in class. It’s proven that music helps stimulate both sides of the brain for more efficient learning says the researchers from med.stanford.edu.
