Fremont Villa Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP) Rejection

Speed bumps are being proposed for vote althroughout N. D St., E St., Filbert St., Flora St., Fremont St., Fremont Elementary School and many neighborhood streets.  I've researched this issue extensively and I want you to join me in this fight against speed bumps and signs in front of and on the side streets near your homes.  If this is voted in, you may have a sign put up right in front of your home, a bump right by your driveway.  You'll hear daily screaching of tires as cars pick up speed after they go over the bumps.  The peacefulness of the neighborhood will be worst than before.  Your cars alignment, tires and frame will be damaged and it will make your situation worse in case of a car accident.  You will have to pay for car repairs and it will cost you more.  You also will see your money go out for taxes to put up speed bumps and signs instead of fixing the cracks and holes on your street and sidewalks.  In addition, you'll later be taxed for maintenance costs through gas taxes at the pump and your routes to places will seem unpleasant as it slows you down and makes it hard to do things like they were before.  Don't let speed bumps and signs ruin your life and make your economic situation worse.  Vote "No" on speed bumps and signs.

Dear Resident,

I'm contacting you, because in a few days, I will be coming around to take your vote on the City of Stockton's proposed speed bump and sign legislation.  This may be your first time getting this notice.  It's an extremely important vote which will alter your neighborhood and make it less enjoyable.  These speed bumps are being proposed for vote althroughout N. D St., E St., Filbert St., Flora St., Fremont St., Fremont Elementary School and many neighborhood streets, but our street is important, because other neighbors on their own streets can vote for speed bumps and signs and get them installed, but we can decide to vote "No" and take our street back.

If this is voted in, you may have a sign put up right in front of your home speed bump right by your driveway.  You'll hear daily screaching of tires as cars pick up speed after they go over the bumps.  The peacefulness of the neighborhood will be worst than before.  Your cars alignment, tires and frame will be damaged and it will make your situation worse in case you're in a car accident since the frame of your car will be internally damaged. It's a fact that speed bumps do very little improvement to stop speeders only slowing them down 22% and reducing fatalities by 11%.  It's not enough to stop them.  Speeders are going to be speeders whether you put in speed bumps or not.  In my mother's neighborhood, speed bumps were put in and neighbors had no idea signs would go up in front of their houses.  A really nice hard working couple who have a beautiful home on my mother's street in Stockton have to live with a sign right straight out in the middle of their home on the sidewalk.  Can you imagine the city doing the same to your house?  Did you know that speed bumps slow down police cars, fire trucks and ambulances.  You may need to reduce every second and minute to get emergency care to your home.  Los Angeles County recently decided to get rid of all of their speed bumps do to this issue of emergency care not being able to get to people in need fast enough. Don't let speed bumps and signs ruin your life and make your economic situation worse.  Vote "No" on speed bumps and signs.

Sincerely,

Scott Sorgent
