This petition is to ban high fructose corn syrup from food production. High fructose corn syrup is an artificial sweetener used by food manufacturers. Food manufacturers prefer high fructose corn syrup to other sugars because it is cheaper than other sugars and it increases the shelf life of their products. Research has shown that high fructose corn syrup has negative effects on the human body. However, corn refiners continue to manufacturer high fructose corn syrup without regards to the damage they inflict on their consumers.
