Protect the Lynx from XL Pipeline

  • by: Animal Advocates
  • recipient: Department of Interior Secretary Sally Jewell,- President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden

The lynx was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in 2000. There are a number of threats still existing- with no recovery plan. The Forest Service created the “Lynx Amendment” for forest plans, (sets of management priorities), planned projects in national forests that include logging.

The logging industry is threatening recovery efforts and  the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has not designated critical habitat for the lynx in 20 different forest plans that deal with lynx habitat. There is also habitat destruction from mining in Montana.

Do not move forward for plans for the XL Pipeline without the issues of endangered species, such as the lynx, without plans for recovery efforts of lynx habitat.
