ANTHONY SIVA BALAN THANASAYAN is a Petaling Jaya City Hall councilor who prevents animal welfare groups from saving strays. He hates stray dogs and is of the strong opinion that they should all be euthanised. His rule is - if you want to show your kindeness to strays - take them home. At the same tim he also organises the authorities to go from house to house to inspect the number of dogs kept as well as if they were all licensed. If this man remains - stray dogs in Selangor will be doomed. This is what he wrote after setting dog catchers on a stray that was being fed and taken care by some local residents.
"A stray dog caught by MBPJ dogcatchers yesterday in Section 14, PJ. The dog was accused of chasing a jogger in the area who demanded action from the council. What is said is that this same dog is being fed by people in the area who unwittingly create a vicious cycle where the animal also becomes a victim. If you truly love the dog, stop feeding him. Take him home to live with you so that he can have the basic necessities in life like a shelter, food and water, medical care and lots and lots of love. Feeding strays is only exacerbating the problem for stray animals which all deserve a loving home."
