The photo of using banned weapons like Ankush by mahouts to prompt the elephants to lift there forehead as an expression of the heroism of the higest elephants as part of this Kizhoor Karthyani Temple festival. The elephant which is been tortured continuosly by Ankush is Pampadi Rajan, which was brought into Thrissur from Kottayam by an Elephantcontractor. The other elephants which are standing behind it are Chirakkal Kalidasan and Chulliparambil Vishnusanker which are kept by two elephant owners living in Thrissur district.
Both the district Collectors and the Assistant Conservator of Forest of Social Forestry Department had not carried out anything to implement the above mentioned Supreme Court order at the Kizhoor Karthyani Temple. Even though given three complaints to the intelligence wing of the Kerala Forestry Dept. Through toll free number of 18004254733 to conduct a spot enquiry at that temple, no forest officer initiated any enquiry in this regard.T herefore, elephants are paraded at that temple from 11 A.M to 8 P.M on 25th November and from 2 A.M to 8 A.M on 26th November 2015. The district elephant task force headed by the D.F.O. of flying squad of the State Forest Department had failed to initiate any enquiry in this regard.T his type of organizer crime against captive elephants at festival places is continuing in Thrissur.
We demand strict laws to stop this kind of abusive actions against captive elephants and a strict practise by officials of these laws!
