Around 70,000 males calves are slaughtered in the UK purely for being born male, meaning they are of no use for dairy farmers. This needs to end, there are thousands of animal sanctuaries around the UK which im sure would be more than happy to rescue some of these innocent creatures.
Yesterday on Channel 4 a short scene was broadcast showing a farmer shooting 3 calves in the head because they were "of no value" which just goes to further prove that the dairy industry doesnt care about its livestock and only sees profit instead of a life for these animals.

I am writing to you because I recently watched a heartbreaking video that was broadcast on Channel 4, regarding the slaughter of male calves in the dairy industry.
This is a disgusting response to the gender of an innocent animal, now i am well aware that male calves arent of use in the dairy industry however killing them because they are of "no value" is not right in any circumstance.
I would like to propose a change in how farmers deal with male calves, there are thousands of animal sanctuaries around the UK and it would be a shame not to make the best use of this. This way the farmers are not having to needlessly kill an innocent creature who through no fault of its own was born male.
I hope that you will consider making some adjustments to dairy farming and make it as fair and humane as possible.
