The Forgotten Mules of Uttarakhand

Working animals have served us for centuries but the recent events after the calamity in Uttarakhand, India, has put humanity to shame!!
At least 12,000 mules and 3,000 milch animals were being used only on the Kedarnath Route for this year's pilgrimage. On 16th June, the floods claimed half this population.
The total government indifference to rescue the remaining animals has left the citizens shocked and disillusioned. Efforts made by animal welfare organisations have saved countless stranded creatures, but more than a hundred are still stuck on precarious pieces of broken roads that hand like shelves on a mountainside near Rambara, Bhimbali, Jangal Chatti (District Rudraprayag).
Most have died due to starvation and untreated injuries.
The Uttarakhand Government has made no effort to evacuate these animals.
The mules are not dying because of the calamity now, THEY ARE DYING BECAUSE OF GOVERNMENT INDIFFERENCE. The Uttarakhand CM has also seemingly brushed aside the Governor's recommendation to rescue the livestock. Please sign the petition to compel the Government to uphold the values of the Indian Constitution and that of humanity itself!!
