Protect one of the last stands of ancient coastal rainforest forever!

The lush and magnificent Carmanah/Walbran valley on Vancouver Island, Canada, is still not fully protected! There are parts of the two valleys that are extremely threatened by Teal Jones, even though this corporation has access to vast stands of second growth trees.
We are imploring both the government of BC and Teal Jones to more sustainably manage the tree plantations already existing on Vancouver island, and leave the last small pockets of pristine coastal forest alone.
The Carmanah/Walbran, a precious patch of wild temperate rainforest bordering the famous West Coast Trail, is home to massive red cedars, crystal waterfalls, rare wildflowers, and endangered birds. Furthermore this area is a precious cultural resource for the First Nations who lived on the island for thousands of years.  It is crucial that we protect the last stands of coastal ancient forest before it is too late. Already the logging corporation has submitted permits to clearcut in this area, with barely any knowledge of what unique species of flora and fauna live therein. Please sign this petition to show your support for this awe-inspiring place of irreplaceable natural and cultural beauty.

Update #28 years ago
Hi! The BC government went ahead and allowed the logging corporation Teal Jones to start clearcutting again in the Carmanah/Walbran. Please call Steve Thompson, the Minister of Forests at 250-387-6240 ASAP to make a respectful plea to withdraw the permit and make this awe-inspiring, irreplaceable forest a fully protected park for future generations. The ancient gentle giants of the plant world need your help now! Visit Friends of Carmanah/Walbran website for more info.

Thanks for signing the petition to fully protect the Carmanah/Walbran!! If you haven't done so already, please join 'Friends of Carmanah/Walbran' Public on facebook. Also, anyone is welcome to join the Western Canada Wilderness Committee. Our province is ablaze with wildfires right now, all the more reason to protect our lush, dense, old-growth rainforest, a strong defense against these uncontrolled fires which tear through the ubiquitous tree farms. Thanks for caring!!!
