Stop Firing Employees for Saving Innocent Animals

In the early part of July, in Ontario, Canada, a Wal-Mart employee was wrongfully terminated from her position at the retail chain, after she confronted a customer about leaving his dog in a hot car. The employee, Carla Cheney, spotted the dog in the horrible and dangerous situation shortly before beginning her shift that day.

In the vehicle, a man had left his poor dog defenseless with the windows rolled up almost completely. The weather was warm and the dog could have easily suffocated in the heat. Cheney immediately became concerned and decided to take action. She confronted the man and informed him that he should not leave his dog in such conditions. The man replied by saying his actions were none of her business. She then told him that if he continued to treat his animals in this manner, then next time she would have no choice but to call the police.

After starting her shift later that day, Cheney was called into her manager's office, who then informed her that she must talk to him prior to addressing such situations in the future. She refused to do so, saying that if she sees unsafe situations, she has no choice but to do something about it. As a result of her response and her actions, she was then terminated from her position with the company.

The company later released a statement stating that Cheney was not fired due to her actions, but would not elaborate further due to "privacy issues."

This is horrible!!! Being a good samaritan should not be a punishable act. Please sign the petition today telling Wal-Mart not to punish employees for looking out for the safety of animals!
