Demand an end to the NIFA imposed wage freeze in Nassau County!

Governor Andrew Cuomo will seek re-election this year and is also rumored to have national aspiriations for higher office. He has lacked leadership on this issue as Nassau County's PBA and other unions have had their salaries and step increases frozen. A court battle has been waged by the unions questioning the legality of the freeze all while non union employees were given raises during the same county wide pay freeze. Nassau County is one of the wealthiest in the state and the nation, as the economic recovery is in full swing as evidenced by the record levels set in the stock market this year, it is time for this wage freeze to be lifted.   Today, the Governor delivered his State of the State Speech to all New Yorkers and stated:It’s a year that’s going to be a banner year for the State of New York,” Mr. Cuomo told the attendees. He went on to declare that, “We were on the precipice of an abyss. The state’s future was hanging in the balance–literally,” The cynics and the naysayers said that we were too far gone and there was no way that we were going to turn the ship of state around.”But, Mr. Cuomo countered: “We knew that fortune favors the bold … We stopped talking and we started doing … And in three years, my friends, you have reversed decades of decline and made dramatic and undeniable progress.”Mr. Cuomo, who is up for re-election this year, proceeded to tout a wide range of accomplishments.“The proof is in the pudding,” he argued. “We did what we said we would do. As elected officials, there’s no statement that makes you prouder to say.” WELL GOVERNOR, IF THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING, ITS TIME TO END THE UNFAIR WAGE FREEZE IMPOSED ON NASSAU COUNTY EMPLOYEES!! In NIFA's own wording this freeze is supposed to be TEMPORARY and PROSPECTIVE and NIFA perceives no factor suggesting an undue burden on the County workforce from a wage freeze. Forecclosing on a home or getting evicted from your place of living IS AN UNDUE BURDEN.
