Demand an End to Cat Declawing in Illinois, Now!

While animal shelters can strongly suggest adopted cats not be declawed, there is nothing in Illinois law that says once the cat is adopted, the owners cannot declaw their pets. Declawing cats is cruel, abusive, and painful, and can render a cat defenseless should it get outside. It can permanently change the personality of the cat, which could lead to owner abandonment. This is nothing short of animal abuse and should be viewed as such. This petition will be presented to local legislators and the media.
