Urban Experiential Display Support

Dear Mayor Michael Nutter,

I wanted to personally express my support for the Urban Experiential Display (UED) legislation. I am pleased to see that my individual support is also highly shared among City Council given in the 13-3 City Council vote approving the legislation and the unanimous 7-0 approval last month by City Council’s Committee on Rules.

Philadelphia is a proud city of “firsts” and these innovative three-dimensional structures – part art, part architecture and part advertising, will be the first in North America. I understand that UEDs will also provide a much-needed financial support for the City’s arts and community groups. For these reasons and a host of others, I believe that the proposed UED locations along the Avenue of the Arts, the Convention Center and the Reading Terminal would be an enhancement to the streetscape and would certainly add excitement and vibrancy to our urban core!

I would like to thank you in advance for your leadership and forward-looking approach as you consider the impact UEDs will have on our City. I am only a small part of the much larger overwhelming support that City Council has already heard from, however I would be remiss if I didn’t also acknowledge the impact UEDs would have on Philadelphia Non-profits, Contractors, Artists and even Tourists traveling to our great city. This has been a very inclusive process to-date and I’m looking forward to the community involvement still ahead in the approval and design process.

Sincerely,
