United we stand to end to systematic discrimination

As of today those with disabilities such as deaf, hearing impaired, learning disabilities or other mental disabilities are often treated different then those without such issues. For example back on April 30 2015 I went into a doctors office for an exam with a doctor who works for the state of Arizona doing speacil exams for those who are applying for ssi or ssdi or CDRS. The exam started out as questions about my medical problem in that case I have DDD which stands for degenerative disk disease. " An incurable condition of the spine", asthma along with learning disabilities and severe hearing impairment. The doctor asked me what kinds of treatment I received and I told him. He asked if I thought of having surgery and I told him my doctors agreed it would be too risky and he asked don't you want to get better? I thought what kind of a question is that? It sounded like he was trying to assume the role of the parent and I must summit. This is very much paternalism. He then said I noticed on your records you have learning disabilities, severe hearing impairment and were in speacil ed all school years. I said well ya because I try to be honest. That was when the horror began. He instructed me to raise both hands and when I couldn't he took my whrist and forced both arms up. He then instructed me to bend over and when I couldn't he put both hands on shoulder and forced down as hard as he could causing a sharp shocking pain in lumbar region. I asked politely we need to stop exam because it hurts. He actully laughed like it was a joke. I now suffer worse symptoms. This sort of stuff is still happening around the country when it comes to such people trying to get services like foodstamps, medical and even social security benefits. The system often shuns the these people indirectly by making getting the service or contining services in such a complicated manner these people often don't understand because of being mentally impaired so they sometimes give up not realizing that they are eligible for services. For many states this is a kudo for lightning up their case loads as they are often under staffed and over worked so they target deaf, hard of hearing and those with some kind of mental disability and disabilities you can't see from outside. What needs to happen is there needs to be more workers, along with yearly training so they will better beable to support clients with those kinds of disabilities. Also during CDRS there could be some changes for the better. If the person is under 64 do I agree there should be such reviews? Yes. One incident for example of how staff shortage is having an effect is that a few weeks ago I get a letter that my cdr was sent out of state for review. I thought ok fine. Not long after I get a letter asking why I stopped treatment which was a mistake because after I was awarded in 2009 I continued seeing a doctor from then and to this day continued. I believe do to worker shortage they either missed placed a portion of my file or deliberately deleted a portion in atempt to speed thru the process which is unfair to me. But unfortunately this happens all too much which is more reason for system change.
