Demand More Regulations for Carmelo's Bar

Carmelo's Bar on 1544 Dekalb Avenue opened it's doors to the public in December of 2018 which has directly resulted in disruptive noise levels and vandalism throughout the neighborhood that last into the early hours of the morning. Unruly clientele can be found outside the bar every night, screaming, cussing and often getting into drunken fights in the middle of the street. In addition to that, several residential properties and businesses surrounding Carmelo's are vandalized regularly due to a lack of security provided by the bar to supervise that it's often over-served customers don't jeopardize the safety of the neighborhood and surrounding properties. These buildings and businesses have been subject to vandalism such as graffitied windows, walls, doors and even human defecation left on steps and entrances. The blatant lack of security and late hours has also resulted in a lowered quality of living for residents of the neighborhood. The bar is open until 4am, 7 days a week, and the unruly customers have wreaked havoc on the sleep schedules and also feelings of personal safety for surrounding residents. Carmelo's drunken customers will often linger in the surrounding area until close to 5am, yelling, vandalizing, and playing loud music.
We are petitioning for the bar to adjust their hours operation to more reasonable closing times and enforce stricter security practices that will ensure that this residential neighborhood is no longer disrupted and terrorized by their customers.
