The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.
The Federal Communications Commission has outserved its stated purpose.
They have lost their identity as an independant agency and are now at the mercy of political lobbying groups as well as any and all branches of government.
Anyone familiar with the merger of Sirius and xm satellite radio can attest that the FCC is no longer capable of protecting consumers in an unbiased manner. Having lost their ability to function properly, we are calling for the end of government waste and the abolishment of the FCC.

These obstructionists need to get a real job,in the real world and do something that is actually productive.I am fed up with government paper shufflers trying to "protect" the public. We need protection from the FCC.They have no respect for private property rights.Satrad is a non-essential discretionary item.

An all-too obvious blunder from the FCC...to benefit the consumer?...what a joke. The fact that so much time wasted, bleeding the life out of XM & Sirius is a cry to the American people to act, and this is a good start.

The way this merger has been handled is a disgrace to our government and how it operates. It is obvious that special interest groups with money can influence and buy our officials and elected officials. This does not say much for our government and their didication for watching out for the good of the common people. Many of these voting people are getting fed up and will take matters into their own hands. And that will include voting people out of office. I myself will not listen to terrestial radio anymore or public broadcasting. Most people want less government controls and interference.

Martin refuses to admit that the only thing "extraordinary" about this merger is the unforgivable amount of time it has taken. Again, I reinstate my position: The FCC commissioners, especially martin, are nothing more than a whole bunch of lazy redtape, taxpayers' parasites....
What a disgrace!

The FCC should definitely be abolished. They clearly have shown show incompetence throughout time; therefore, an unnecessary burden on taxpayers … their review of Sirius-XM merger is a great example. The Dept. of Justice should be sufficient to enforce antitrust laws and other laws in the books, and customers are now much better informed to judge the services of companies that engage in abusive business practices. In the case of Sirius and XM, it’s the FCC that is using abusing practices by not concluding the review promptly. The FCC is damaging the companies, the shareholders, the customers and the public in general by not approving the merger promptly, which is a no-brainer. There're plenty of opinions out there that FCC members and staff are engaged in foul play; they certainly lack public trust.

I know nothing about government policy, or the FCC's responsibility or purpose. I only know there are too many politicians that are the cause of our local & state budgets always coming up short, resulting in higher taxes, higher utility bills, less services, and more crowded schools. I do know that many said politicians are not being held accountable for their actions, or non-actions. I do know that New Jersey is a hotbed of political corruption, as evidenced by the recent news of Mayor Sharpe James, Governor James McGreevey, and numerous other bribe-taking, taxpayer funded blab-a-lots. The timeframe for this decision/non-decision by the FCC is embarassing to the United States of America, and every single person who lives in this country, whether an owner of Siri/XM shares or not. I can only surmise that one of our government agencies, the FCC is either incompetent, or just trying to get back at H. Stern. Why no one has suggested this is payback for all of Howard Stern's rants & raves against Michael Powell & the FCC from his radio days is puzzling to me. If that is the reason for this unacceptable amount of time for a decision, then shame on the U.S. government for not reprimanding the FCC for trying to undermine our rights of freedom of speech. If it is because the FCC is incompetent, then shame on the U.S. Government for not reprimanding those in charge at the FCC for being a waste of taxpayer's money. The FCC has fined Howard Stern's employers for the use of the word penis. How does the FCC get away with the insanity of the amount of time they have spent on this decision/non-decision, with no consequences???

The FCC are not doing their job with respect to the XMSR/SIRI merger decision. The DOJ okay'd the merger in March and here it is June and still no decision. I believe they should be FIRED for the travesty they have caused. They are supposed to protect the consumer and they are hurting the consumers who could now be paying $6.95 per month instead of $12.95 a month for XMSR/SIRI programs. I wouldn't be surprised if someone is being bribed by the NAB to hold off on their decision. Do away with Kevin Martin and his transaction team please!

.....It is quite obvious that no one in Government wants fair regulation thru the FCC. While they are accusing others of monopoly, they themselves are guilty!! The Government, and Congress is becoming spineless, allowing these lobbyists to rule because of greed. It is no longer "WE THE PEOPLE", but "SCREW THE PEOPLE!" Where are those AMERICAN men that stood for what is right, and good?? The Bible says, It is SIN, to those who know to do good, but do it not!!

What is the point of having two seperate governmant agencies regulating mergers? As for the Sirius/XM Satelite Radio Merger, they have stallen and cost both of these companies, and shareholders, billions of dollars. They are not helping the American people, instead they are hindering us.
