Because saving lives is important. And using YOUR voice can save TWELVE lives!
(1)"An extremist Libyan militia has captured twelve men who now face mutilation and execution for allegedy being gay...The militia called themselves the 'special deterrence unit' on their Facebook page and on it that they boast they caught the men doing the 'practices of the people of Lot' (i.e. having gay sex) an that the men are to be mutilated and executed."
We call out to the Human Rights Watch to further pressure Libya into handing the twelve detained homosexuals over to civil authorities. The mutilation, torture, and impending death of twelve innocent men over an act of love is disgusting and emulates Hitlers hate that almost destroyed an entire race. It is likely that these men have already been tortured horrendously and for every second the public remains aware of the fact that this is happening without taking action is a second stolen away from the the lives of these men who have families that care about them and will be devastated by their losses. We the undersigned are here to remind HRW of their mission statement.
Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world. We stand with victims and activists to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice. We investigate and expose human rights violations and hold abusers accountable. We challenge governments and those who hold power to end abusive practices and respect international human rights law. We enlist the public and the international community to support the cause of human rights for all.
Is there any greater violation against human rights than to murder people in cold blood over an act of love? We the under signed give our support with our signatures and comments and have full faith that HWR will stand for what is right and fight with us for the lives of those twelve men.
Their time is running out, the time to act is now!
