Samuel Wurzelbacher, known as "Joe the Plumber" came out to a fundraiser for another Republican candidate. At the event, he told the audience that his idea for immigration is to put troops along the Mexican/American border and "start shooting".
He said it again the next morning at another campaigning event, adding that the USA should put a fence up on the border as well.
Please tell "Joe the Plumber" that he should apologize and take back what he said. Violence is not the answer. Immigration reform shouldn't include mass murder, it should include passing laws to enable law-abiding citizens (many of whom come to the US to make better lives for their families) to have easier, faster ways to become citizens, and respecting them all as people.
Dear Samuel Wurzelbacher,
I am writing to you today because of comments you made concerning your ideas on immigration. You want to put a fence up on the Mexican/American border and put troops there and have them "start shooting".
Violence isn't the answer for immigration reform. We should be passing laws to enable the folks that are law-abiding and come here to make better lives for their families easier, faster ways to become citizens, and respect them as people.
Thank you for your time.
