Shanghai Metro, Short Skirts Don't Cause Harassment!

Shanghai Metro created a blog asking women to wear more clothing in public, saying it is not surprising that women are harassed in the subway if they are wearing "revealing clothing". It also asked them to "cherish themselves".

Shanghai women were rightfully outraged -- they protested and held signs against the commentary from the blog post.

What women choose to wear is not an excuse for sexual harassment. It is ALWAYS wrong to put the blame on the victim. Please tell Shanghai Metro to stop victim blaming -- short skirts don't cause harassment, harassers do!

I am writing to you today because of a blog post written by this company, Shanghai Metro, about women's clothing.

The blog posted asked women to wear more clothing in public, saying that women should not be surprised if they are harassed if they are wearing "revealing clothing".

It is ALWAYS wrong to put the blame on the victim. Clothing does not cause harassment, harassers do. Please change you all's policy to reflect this.

Thank you for your time.
