Let the People of Mississippi Vote on the Lottery

The people of Mississippi are tired of missing out on the chance to win millions of dollars in games like Mega Millions and Powerball.  Additionally, 50% of every lottery transaction goes to the individual states that host these games.  This money could go to benefit state programs like Medicaid, and help bring better benefits to the people of Mississippi.  Also, this money could help balance the Mississippi budget, keep drastic budgit cuts from having to be made, and even help improve Mississippi's educational system.

Dear Governor Bryant,

While I appreciate your view on the Lottery in Mississippi, it is my belief that not having one is handicapping the state.  A state lottery, or state participation in the Powerball or Mega Millions could benefit the state in many ways.  According to ABC News, one dollar out of every two dollars spent on a Powerball ticket goes to the host state.  That would quickly add up, and could mean extra money for critical State programs such as Medicaid.  These monies could also be used for balancing the budget, and helping improve the Mississippi educational system.  A lottery is merely another tool in a Governor can use to help his state have a better economic future.

Please allow the people, who elected you, to vote on this issue, and decide for themselves if they want a lottery in Mississippi.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Yours truely,
Jennifer Cleckley
