Allow Veterinary Nurses from oversees to have access to sponsorship to work in the UK.

  • recipient: The rights for Qualified Veterinary Nurses to work in the UK under sponsorship at a reasonable cost to the company looking to Hire.

The Veterinary industry in the UK and Ireland is currently lacking massively in Qualified/Registered Veterinary Nurses, there are vacancies available all across the country and simply not enough UK Vet Nurses qualifying to fill these positions. This is adding to huge amounts of pressure to the work forces in practices across the UK and Ireland and leaving a massive gap in the market. The standard of oversee's Veterinary Nurses especially in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa is excellent, the graduate to position ratio in these countries can be as much as 35 - 1.

If UK practices had the option to sponsor these candidates to come over on a temporary basis to work it would very quickly alleviate the pressure and increase the productivity of the practices in the UK and Ireland. With the increase in domestic pets in the UK, Vet practices are stretched which in some cases can cause mistakes to be made, the end result meaning our pets not receiving the care they need. By allowing the sponsorship of Vet Nurses we can ensure practices are fully staffed with individuals with the appropriate skill sets to care for our pets and minimise problems.
