Ask Walmart Not to Force Small Organic Farmers Out of Business!

Walmart announced plans to sell less expensive organic produce throughout the US, but some worry this could end up forcing small farmers out of business, so that "organic" foods end up being mostly produced by industrial operations that aren't much better for the environment than conventional agriculture.

Walmart should pledge to partner with small farmers instead of forcing them to lower their prices to the point where they can't keep up with demand.

Don't let Walmart create a model where farmers adhere to just the bare minimum of organic standards and end up depleting soil health on a piece of land, abandoning it, and moving on to another.

Tell Walmart not to cheapen the benefits of organic foods in order to slash prices.

Dear Sir,

We the undersigned ask that Walmart proceed with caution in its new venture to offer lower-priced organic foods. While we applaud your efforts, taking over the organic market could have unintended consequences.
