Don't Use Woman's Abortion as "Proof" She's Unfit to Raise Kids!

A New York judge has decided to consider a woman's decision to have an abortion as evidence that she's an unfit mom.

John and Lisa Mehos are in a court custody battle and John subpoenaed Lisa's medical records to prove that she is dishonest, emotionally unstable, and her credibility can't be trusted because she's Catholic but still had an abortion (as argued by John's lawyer, Eleanor Alter). John was arrested earlier this year for hitting Lisa in front of their kids, giving her a black eye, and confessed to cheating on her with dozens of prostitutes.

The idea that a woman's decision to have an abortion could be used in a custody case sets back women's rights and the right to choose so far. The stigma around abortion shouldn't be used to question the ability of this woman to be a good parent.

Please tell New York Supreme Court Justice Lori S. Sattlers to not allow Lisa Mehos' abortion to be used as "proof" she's unfit to raise kids!

Dear New York Supreme Court Justice Lori S. Sattlers,

The decision to have an abortion has nothing to do with whether someone is a good parent or not. It just means they made the decision that was right for them at the time. The idea that this could be used as "evidence" in a custody case rolls back both women's rights and the right to choose, and stigmatizes abortion even further than it already is.

As you already know, Lisa and John Mehos are in a court custody battle for their two children and John subpoenaed Lisa's medical records to prove that she is emotionally unstable, isn't honest, and her credibility can't be trusted (as argued by his lawyer) because Catholics don't have abortions, apparently. John was arrested earlier in the year for hitting Lisa in front of their children, giving her a black eye. He also confessed to having sex with many prostitutes while they were still married.

Please don't use Lisa's abortion as "proof" she's unfit to raise her kids, and instead focus on the traits and attributes these people have that would make either of them a better fit for creating a loving and good home for their children.
