Government should immediately remove Owen Paterson from his position and give the job to someone who recognises, and is prepared to act to address, massive and imminent threats to climate.
Paterson recently said he doesn't believe human activity is contributing to climate change, despite overwhelming peer-reviewed scientific agreement that it is. And during recent floods that devastated the country, Paterson not only refused to visit affected areas but had the audacity to state that the government should only be able to help citizens in the cities or the countryside.
We've already exceeded the safe level of carbon in the atmosphere, and we're now fast approaching many catastrophic events such as sub-ice methane release and ocean current changes which will have rapid and devastating effects on our weather system.
If he stays in post for the government, Paterson's lack of action to reduce emissions and address critical environmental concerns in the country will almost certainly be fatal for much human and non human life.
