Ever gone to buy a few sticks of celery or a bunch of grapes only to find the poor bastards bound tightly against a tray of STYRO death!?
Whats the issue?? The issue is - that shit don't break down. Not within your life time anyway.
I know this petition may sound silly but hey, starting small is a start. And it all adds up pretty quick.
Its like a mole - once you notice it you can't not and every time you go to purchase your meat and three vege for one you'll see. And for every one of those packets is 5,000 odd years of loitering plasticky cancer causing muck. Thats much more annoying then those smoking bums outside the Mall.
Way less chance of a sneaky bruised grape or eight under your seemingly trust worthy bunch too.
So get to it. Give this slightly annoying petition a sign and lets tell super markets and the like that we don't want a side of earth sabotage with our food.
Dear Supermarket Franchise,
This petition is to ask you to please reconsider wrapping small quantities of food on Styrofoam trays.
It would be wonderful if this could extend to the complete eradication of Styrofoam trays and perhaps a more degradable form of packaging for products that may need a tray such as meats.
I am sure as a well-informed, knowledgeable organisation, you [all] understand the current trend towards people doing what they can to help the environment. This means that your consideration towards packaging is not only beneficial to the earth, but to your marketing as people are taking more notice of sustainability. Being conscious sells! So please, at very least reevaluate the quantities of styro products being used in your stores and let your franchises know that we care.
