Keep Veteran's Park Safe!

Calling all residents living in or around Veteran's Park in Culver City!  Simply put, there is far too much commuter traffic on Braddock Drive, which is a residential street not equipped for the number of cars that use it on a daily basis.  The city has installed numerous stop signs and speed humps which are not effective and their recent proposals do not solve the problem in a way that is palatable to the residents living on Braddock Drive.

As a result of the traffic, children walking to/from school and other pedestrians are put at increased risk.  There have been robberies and attempted child abductions as well, which can be at least partially attributed to increased traffic through the neighborhood.  The city plans to introduce elements of "Traffic Calming" which are psychological tricks to slow traffic, but with so many pedestrians and children walking from the three neighborhood schools, it is not an adequate solution as it's purpose is to slow traffic not eliminate it.

In order to solve this issue and not put an expensive band aid on it, we need to reclassify Braddock Drive from a "feeder" street to a "local" street.  Once that happens, we can have semi-diverters installed both eastbound and westbound on Braddock Drive at Sepulveda Boulevard.  This will divert the commuters to Culver Boulevard and keep them out of Veteran's Park.  Please join the effort to keep everyone safe by signing this petition!
