Only allow the use of biodegradable plastics in food production

The 5p levy on the sale of plastic bags has seen a huge reduction in their numbers leading to less plastic polluting our environment and littering our neighbourhoods. Now let's go Obe stage further. Let's ask all supermarkets to take the lead and only use recyclable plastics in their Food packaging. The technology is there!

Here's a quick exercise in despair. No one really knows quite how long it takes plastic to break down in the environment. It could be anywhere fromm hundreds to thousands of years.

I propose the large supermarket chains take the lead and harness new technology produced by people like Eben Bayer%2C co- founder of Evocative and use only environmentally friendly products in their food packaging. Amazing products that perform like plastics but are made by mushrooms.
