Urge The Justice Department To Take Action To Stop Young Black Men Dying At The Hands Of Police.

We have an epidemic of young black men dying at the hands of police in the United States. More training for police officers won't help; how do you train the racial bias out of someone? We need to demand that something be done - at the highest level, not just locally - so that all of us, regardless of skin color or background, can expect to be treated humanely by the police. No one should fear for their life in the presence of the police simply because of their skin color.

The justice department needs to take control of this situation, and implement harsher penalties for police officers who injure or kill any person, whatever their skin color. Special attention, though, needs to be paid to the deaths of young black men, who have been dying at the hands of the police at an alarming rate. Often times the offending officer simply get "paid administrative leave", and the murder is ruled justifiable. This cannot be allowed to continue.

Police officers who do their jobs with integrity and treat people humanely - the majority, I believe - are not the target of these accusations. But there are too many officers who abuse their position and act in a violent manner towards black men, and they need to be held accountable for their actions.
