Yeshivah JIQ school calendar

The parent teacher's association wishes to express their outmost gratitude to our hebrew as well as our secular teachers that show their committment and dedication for their students on a daily basis. We also would like to thank our school administrators for developing and maintaining a true partnership with their parents striving towards excellence in education.
Since the majority of parents are first generation immigrants, it becomes extremely difficult not only to afford the tuition in the tri state area but to keep up with yearly tuition increases as well. The PTA understands that the choice to send our kids to JIQ is not merely because it's more afortable but the real reason lies in the fact that it unifies us as the new growing Bucharian jewish community that wants to preserve our unique background and unique traditions that the Communist regime tried to eradicate during the Soviet Russia. Living in the free world comes with it's own threats and dangers for our Community A current dangerous threat of drug and substance abuse , not to mention the spiritual assimilation that has become rampant among the young ones.
The PTA is aware that it takes lots of efforts to keep the yeshivah school day as dual curriculum in order to avoid having our kids dismissed by 3 pm only to go to many unsupervised homes. However it has come to our attention that for some reason the JIQ calendar started to show more days "off" and a later start date for the school year as well.
Based upon reveiwing past school calendars, it has been noted that the school would start their calendar date at the end of August ( which made sense since they end it by almost third week in June) However for the past few years , JIQ began their academic year after "Labor day" and still end iheir school by third week of June. Since the majority of our parent body are dual income homes working in secular settings that can't accomodate the need for vacation and or sick days, poses a major threat to their jobs, it becomes almost impossible to request for extra days after the Jewish holidays such as ISRU CHAG day for SHavuot. IN addition, there few days in the year where parents can't justify taking off easily such as ELECTION day, which is not considered a national Holiday like NEW Years.
The PTA is aware that ELECTION day is a day for the staff, however we are faced with huge dilema for the search of childcare.
Having Midwinter recess at a separate from the secular school helps to keep our children from mingling together , However the Midwinter break is for 10 days long and that perioud of time is another challenging perioud to find childcare. Not only the children feel bored because their parents can't take off the full vacation time , they are glued to their screens and computer devices all day long. The PTA has reached out to TORAHUMESORAH regarding this issue, and we have been told that" each school has the right to put a lot of thought into their school calendar that tries to aims for 180 days based on the parents as well their teacher's needs". We hope that the JIQ's administration will review the aforementioned issues regarding the school calendar and will adjust it moving forward as equal partners in our children's education.
