PLEASE sign my petition seeking justice for this poor innocent neglected German Shepard who died needlesses becuase of the neglect and heartlessness of this father and son. They need to punished to the full extent of the law--even thought it won't be even close as justice served. Things like this should never be overlooked. A father and son were arrested for a slew of charges including to cruelty to animals and resisting arrest.
According to Capt. John Cooney, officers went to 16 Park Ave. to answer a domestic disturbance call and found a German shepherd in such bad shape it could not stand up and had to be euthanized. The dog was emaciated, anemic and had penetrating ulcers on its body. It's hip bones were penetrating its skin and completely visible.
John Ferrara Jr., 26 answered the door when officers went to the home and was belligerent and verbally abusive with officers, according to Cooney. He told officers his sister got into an argument with her boyfriend and they were no longer there.
The officers wanted to check on the welfare of anyone else in the apartment but Ferrara would not let them enter.
Another male came to the door, John Ferrara Sr., 56 and was also uncooperative, according to police reports.
Additional units were called and when officers attempted to enter the apartment, both Ferreras obstructed and resisted arrest.
Both father and son were charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and cruely to animals. Ferreara Sr. was charged also charged with harassment.
Ferrara Sr. was sent to the Rensselaer County jail on $5,000 bail while bail was set at $2,500 for Ferrara Jr. Both are set for preliminary hearings on Monday.
