Imagine spending every minute of the day in pain. Imagine being scared to get out of bed because you know it's going to hurt. Imagine not being able to get to a toilet because it causes you agony. Imagine not being able to go anywhere as the maximum distance you can go walking is to the kitchen.
Jane is this lady.
She suffers from chronic pain known as Fibromyalgia, as well as osto parosis and arthritis.
Everyday she suffers in silence. She was put on the local housing register as priority 1 medical need of suitable housing.
Her landlord said that they would squash some old tenancy debt so she had a fresh start.
The council offered her a bungalow and then withdrew the offer because they deem her to be in debt, even though it has been written off and no such debt exists.
Jane has now been suspended from the housing list for 6 months and the council will only reconsider her application if she has paid some of the none existent debt back.
Barnsley council is intentionally causing Jane pain and suffering which is against our human rights. The council is also failing to allocate Jane suitable housing discriminating her and failing to recognise her disability, this infringes the disability discrimination Act.
