Please help to stop Gumtree advertising animals at risk on its site

Gumtree is advertising animals on its website, from dogs to horses, for sale to just any Tom, Dick or Harry to buy. Something has to be done to protect these innocent animals from harm.

When an animal is adopted from a rescue centre, including those run by the RSPCA, rigorous checks are carried out on both the potential owner and their premises where the animal will live. Only when the necessary checks are completed, including visits to the property by qualified people in charge is the animal allowed to leave for its new home. Sadly, many homes and people are not suitable for the purpose, as the overflowing rescue centres will testify.

Dogs in particular will often be thrown out of the "home" when the novelty wears off and a new cute puppy comes along. These are the kind of homes where dogs are at the greatest risk of physical abuse, starvation, thirst, infections of all kinds and lack of veterinary care. They will be left in the house for seven or eight hours a day while their new owners are at work or the pub and then again in the evening when the owners disappear once again for the pub. The dogs' conditions are often appalling and they are left without food or water, and Gumtree is aiding and abetting this irresponsible attitude of the human animals

Please, please help to stop Gumtree advertising animals in this outdated and archaic way, by signing my petition today.
Thank you from the animals!
