33,000 or more horses a month are transported to Mexico and Canada for slaugher. They die a horrible death. Some are dead before they reach the plants. Horse meat is not for consumption. Horses are used as pets, racing, companions. To keep a horse healthy we deworm them, give them drugs for pain. Drugs that can make them better when their sick. Race horses at the age of 4 are given Bute, and many many unsafe drugs. Some of these drugs kill the horses. Cocaine is one drug used to make a horse perform faster. Not to mention insulin. In 1970's many dogs and cats died very young the result of drugs in horse meat. Alpo was banned from using horse meat. Now horse meat is used again in many dog foods. Are pets health is at risk. Horses are not food. Should not be in the food chain at all.
At horse auctions the kill buyers have no record of what kind of drugs the horse or horses have been on or do they care. Many horses come to the auction on Bute. Fly spray contains deadly chemicals for humans and animals. Horses are sprayed with fly spray this soaks into the skin into there bodies. I do not want this meat in the food chain for dogs, cats, or humnas. This is very serious and we must stop horse slaugher.
