The new Koka wildlife sanctuary just opened its doors in the Bhandara District near Nagpur, India in an effort to provide better protection for tigers when poaching of these animals is at its highest. Although this sanctuary is vital for the security and safety of wildlife, the field staff has gone without a salary for more than three months.

The more than 25 field protection staff of this newly declared Koka Wildlife Sanctuary in the Bhandara district in India state that, although their work and passion is vital for the protection of the wildlife, they have not received a salary for the past three months.

There are 19 forest guards, five foresters and one range forest officer (RFO) for Koka, which is now part of the Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR) spread in Gondia and Bhandara districts. Entire staff is waiting to get pay and is highly demoralized. Six van majors with Koka are being paid by their respective forest divisions.

It is sad when there are organizations and staff so willing to work for the safety and protection of wildlife; yet funds and resources are so necessary for them to carry on with their work of passion and compassion. Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to gain much needed support and monetary assistance for Koka Wildlife Sanctuary in the Bhandara District of India.
