STOP FRENCH POLYNESIA'S DOG MEAT TRADE TODAY! (Arrêtez le commerce de la viande de chien)

  • by: Donna Armes
  • recipient: François Hollande, Stéphane Le Foll, Édouard Fritch

Anti Pet and Bush Coalition and International Animal Rescue Foundation France are now calling on the French President François Hollande, Agricultural Minister of France Stéphane Le Foll, and President of French Polynesia Édouard Fritch to begin working on strategies with the coalition above to now implement a ban on the dog meat trade in French Polynesia, working to introduce more affordable meats and foods, and to create a stronger and educated farming community on either a domestic or small sustainable commercial scale. The APBMC and IARFF are not trying to stop people from eating food, however we have noticed a problem, that problem does not stem from culture, but more food and lack of farming. This must now be addressed as the dog meat trade is increasing on the islands, furthermore meat prices around the world are skyrocketing to high levels which will only have a knock on effect to the people of French Polynesia. You are hereby signing this petition today to help ban a trade, and introduce other (non-dog-meat trades at the same time). Our aim is to ensure that the ban does not under any circumstances come about until the French Government have all procedures in place to replace the dog meat trade immediately.

Dear François Hollande, Stéphane Le Foll, Édouard Fritch.

We the Anti Pet and Bush Meat Coalition are calling on the French Government and Government of French Polynesia to implement a complete ban on the trade and consumption of dog meat on the islands of French Polynesia. The French Government we are calling on to also when implementing the ban to introduce cheaper imports of foods, and to introduce new sustainable farming operations on the islands (before the ban), to sustain peoples health and diet. Since the French Nuclear Program was introduced many farmers left French Polynesia for France. Unfortunately this resulted in lack of available foods from fruit, vegetables and meats, because of this French Polynesia is now struggling to find cheaper and locally produced/farmed foods, and farming has been literally eradicated from the island. The Government of France we are lobbying to now introduce sustainable farming operations, education on arable and cattle farming and to ensure the dog meat trade (which isn't a cultural food) is banned. Furthermore we are also asking that laws are brought into effect to protect dogs and cats from abuse, and neglect.

Thank you.
