Help stop Puppy Mills in Minnesota!

Now is the time to take action! If you don't speak up, HF0388 will fail. Big agriculture, big business and special interest groups will defeat this bill and win again. Help Representative John Benson, author of HF 0388, get this bill thorugh the Minnesota Souse of Representatives and a companion bill through the Minnesota Senate.
Minnesota is one of the top producers of puppies and kittens in the country, however, we do not have adequate legislation to protect the various interested parties from the greed of inhumane breeders. This legislation is desperately needed to: protect innocent animals; prevent inhumane treatment of both the breeding animals and animal put up for sale; protect unknowing individuals and families who purchase these animals only to find they are riddled with health and behavioral problems; and to protect the honest breeders who are doing the right thing. It not just about the animals, but also about protecting people and businesses that want to do the right thing.

We, the undersigned, urge you to speak up and support HF0388 relating to dog and cat breeder standards of care provided, fees established, rulemaking authorized, criminal penalties provided, and money appropriated (http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/bills/billnum.asp?Billnumber=HF388&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Search&ls_year=87&sessionvar=20110). We also ask that a companion bill be introduced and adopted by the Minnesota senate.

The economy, jobs, budget issues and a myriad of other issues are a top priority, but this needs to be a priority too. It%u2019s long overdue and now is the time. Please don%u2019t let big business and special interest groups defeat this much needed legislation once again.
