Stop portuguese children from being forced to 55 weekly school hours

As of 2019, the school hours of compulsory education in Portugal, will consist of 55 weekly hours (that's starting at 5 years old). As a portuguese parent, I feel that our children are being taken away from us. Education starts at home, and extra hours is not going to make kids more intelligent. At the moment they are forced to carry a backpack loaded with books (because Portuguese schools don't offer lockers to everyone), they come back home with homework to last for weeks, not to mention that the bullied children will suffer extra hours. Also some children have to get a bus to go home which during the winter will not be available at the times they get out of school.
Furthermore, no Portuguese public schools are properly equipped for extracurricular activities.
