Allow life imprisonment for cat killers!

Every week, 6 cats are killed here in the uk in a very similar fashion. This is the work of one man, the Croydon Cat Killer. Unfortunately, animals are still 'property' under uk law. Meaning that the only ways this beast can be prosecuted is for 'criminal damage' or 'causing unnecessary suffering'. Both of which carry a maximum penalty of imprisonment for 6 months, meaning that in even the most heinous cases, cat killers serve only 3 months.
I have created a website: http://longersentencesforcatkillers.weebly.com/
I have also created a petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/172737 the petition I have created is on the UK government petition site, meaning that if I get 10,000 signatures I get a response and I get a debate in parliament if I am somehow able to reach 100,000. By signing this petition you may help me change the law.

An indeterminate sentence is required in the Croydon Cat Killer's case because he will not be released until the parole board believes that he will NOT repeat the offences.

I am aware I now have 333 signatures! Each one of you have made a difference! There was a case on 6th December, when a man killed deer and foxes, as well as abusing his dogs and training them to kill animals; he was jailed for just 20 weeks. A similar sentence will be given to the Croydon Cat Killer if caught. Care2 petitions make a difference, but they are not debated in parliament. I want to get MPs debating the issue and agreeing with me. If you want MPs debating this issue, there is a link to the petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/172737

Update #17 years ago
I only created this yesterday, and I already have 19 signatures, it's incredible!
If you really want to make a difference and you are a British Citizen or UK resident then sign the petition on the government site, I promise that NONE of your details are published.
I am aware that most of my signers are from foreign countries and unfortunately you are not allowed to sign the government petition. However, you have still made a difference signing this care 2 petition.
