Stop Animal Cruelty in Slovakia

Dear Madam Prime Minister Radicova,

We would like to express our serious concern at the animal welfare situation currently visible in Slovakia. It is a drastically unhealthy situation that speaks badly of Slovakia to the whole world. In this modern environment we cannot pretend our deeds go un-noticed.

Slovakia has been a part of the European Union for several years now, however the Slovak Government has not yet adopted any laws that would protect animals (social, farm or wild) from human cruelty, as is the case in other member countries. Social sites are daily flooded with videos of animals being abused in Slovakia, where the perpetrators are never punished.
The situation in Slovakia today looks more like that seen in developing Asian or African countries, than a country that is in union with countries such as England, Germany, Austria and France, where such cases are justly punished.
We plead with you, do not close your eyes. Do not take part in this tyranny through inactivity.   You are the person who really can make the change here.

This situation is no longer only of concern to those in Slovakia, we the signatory are inhabitants of many different parts of the world, but we are united in our request for change in attitude from the government of Slovakia.

Please do not be weak. For the sake of your humanity, for the sake of our beautiful country, do not reject the cries of the compassionate. It is a part of your responsibility as a mature human being to protect those who suffer from consequences of human cruelty with no ability to defend themselves. If we, if you, do not act, then who are the animals of this world and what right do we have to call ourselves morally superior?

We would remind you of the famous adage,  "For evil to flourish it is only necessary for good people to do nothing."

Your Sincerely Jana Stanková and the undersigned
