Quebec Prosecutors Please Enforce The Criminal Code That Pertains to Animal Cruelty

The Animal Legal Defence Funds cite that "Quebec Remains Best Province to be an Animal Abuser"

Anthony Abbondanza of the Montreal Chronicle wrote on a September 02nd 2014 article "In the West Island and more specifically Dorval, DDO, Kirkland and the Ile Bizard-Ste.Genevieve where legislation exists, fines to animal abusers do not exceed 300.00$.

Both articles share the same concerns. Animal abusers in the Province of Quebec, Canada get off easy.

Sections 445, 446 and 447 of the Criminal Code of Canada specifically indicates what the punishments are for animal cruelty.

For some unkown reason, the prosecutors in Montreal are not following the law as it stands and are letting animal abusers off lightly.

It is time that animal advocates target these prosecutors to see that animal abusers do not get off scott free.

Currently, there are three cases in Montreal where a family of three were charged on September 2013 by the Montreal police on 38 counts of animal cruelty. These persons are Margarita Golsky, case #113113914, Sergei Vorobiev, case #113113906 and Alexander Vorobiev, case #113113898. These cases have been postponed numerous times and with no end in sight. The cases was heard on October 03rd, 2014 and my sources indicated that the case was postponed again because one of the defendant did not show up. This is a criminal matter! Was a warrant issued for his arrest? I do not know that. This is how the justice system works in Quebec works. It is my understanding that the case is re-scheduled for February 2015.

I urge that everyone who reads this petition to sign it as it will show that animal advocacy is alive and watching how the law is applied to animal abusers. Animals cannot talk so we have to talk on their behalf.
