Not The Place For Fracking.

You should sign this petition because fracking is known to cause air polution, water Polution and Negative health impacts. -Crystalline Silica when in sand form can cause silicosis, a incurable lung disease that in all 11 Wyoming sites was found in alarming numbers in the air. So much so that if the workers were masked, they would still not be adequately protected.

- The Associated Press released a report claiming that rural Wyoming drilling sites had ozone pollution of 124 parts per billion worse air quality than the city of Los Angeles( at 114 parts per billion)

-During the mining process, methane escapes the hole. Methane is around 4 times more potent in trapping heat in the earth's atmosphere.

- A well will approximately be fracked only 18 times

There is the possibility of being exposed to any different chemicals, many of them known to cause cancer, organ damage, birth defects and nervous system disorders.

- In 2011, Wyoming's ozone pollution was so bad that residents of the area started complaining or teary eyes, bloody noses, and shortness of breath.
- Contamination of groundwater

- waste water is stored either on site, in an injection well, or in open air ponds.

- In 2011, over 1,000 oil spills were reported in North Dakota alone.

In the water retrieved from the drilling, the water can contain not only the chemicals added to it but naturally occurring heavy metals and radioactive materials.

A case of water pollution caused by fracking occurred in Pavillion, Wyoming was confirmed by the EPA and the United States Geological Survey.

- in Poplar, Montana the EPA forced three oil companies to reimburse the city due to freshwater contamination.

A single welling site can use up to 1-8 million gallons of water. That is enough to fill 2 Olympic swimming pools, or 20,000 bathtubs. And according to the Washington Post, the United States is running out of fresh water.
In Colorado, it was found that babies born near fracking sites suffered from more birth defects.
Of all of the chemicals used while hydraulic fracturing, 75% of them could effect eyes and skin, 50% could effect the brain, immune , and cardiovascular systems, and 35% of them could cause cancer and mutations.
