Demand Required Security of Big Cat Facility in California Despite Resistance!

Please sign and share this petition nationwide in an effort to get this man to comply with California authorities regarding safety and security of the big wild cats on his property. Just last year someone got killed by one of his lions and the man has since been ordered to increase security. Why would he appeal such an order? It is not only for the well-being of the animals but anyone who handles them, visits them or lives nearby!

Dale Anderson is the founder of Cat Haven that sits in the foothills of Dunlap east Of Fresno, California. The California state's Division of Occupational Safety and Health implores the man to implement more security measures at the Cat Haven such as put locks on more cage doors, have workers pair up and arm them with pepper spray. Cat Haven remains open to the public and is home to 31 cats from a dozen species of all sizes.

The man says he has worked with these large animals for more than 23 years and does not feel such extra security is necessary. More locks would not add safety if the rules aren't followed, and working in pairs creates complacency, he said, adding that keepers may shoot pepper spray into their own faces. "They're turning around and trying to tell me how to put my procedures together," Anderson said. "Where is this coming from?"

One of the reasons these new security measures are requested is due to a 24-year-old intern named Dianna Hanson of Seattle who died on March 6, 2013 when a 550-pound lion named Cous Cous escaped from a partially closed feeding cage, breaking her neck. Officials shot and killed the lion when it couldn't be coaxed away from the body. For the safety of any workers, visitors and the community, OSHA of California is focused on extra security.

You would think that Mr. Anderson would be happy to comply since these big cats are exotic and wild with unpredictable, natural instincts. OSHA & State of California - Please ensure that you do all that is necessary to provide the safety of all the animals involved but especially people who handle and care for them. These are exotic and wild animals with natural instincts that can be a danger to those handlers, visitors of the facility and everyone living within the community. If this Mr. Anderson does not want to cooperate with the extra needed security and safety of his Big Cat Haven, he should be shut down and the animals placed in zoos or other appropriate facilities. He cannot run this facility unless he can provide the safety and security as requested by officials! No appeals!!!
