CALL FOR FEDERAL BAN AGAINST BREED DISCRIMINATION

It is unjust to allow individual states and counties to practice breed discrimination at their own whim. In a country where it is federally unlawful to practice racial discrimination, discrimination of the elderly, and discrimination against the disabled....we are calling for the elimination of discrimination against breeds.

A canine is protected under laws that regulate animal welfare. Classified as companion animals, it is unlawful to abuse, starve, beat, deliberately injure, or otherwise mistreat them. And yet, individual bodies of government prohibit ownership and mandate the forced euthanasia of countless dogs across the country, solely on ill-conceived notions of what constitutes "danger and aggression."

Any dog can bite, yet they are legal to own and raise in our homes. The allowance of canine companions with the exception of Pit Bulls is a violation of animal welfare laws. This particular law banning them makes null and void the pre-existing regulations set in place to ensure the well-being of companion animals.

The willful destruction of companion animals based on physical characteristics is a direct parallel of China, where dogs are taken from homes and ripped from the arms of their owners and destroyed. We are supposed to be protected from unwarranted search and seizure. We are supposed to be secure in our person and property, which dogs are defined as.

In a government that declares itself to be "of the people, by the people,  for the people," we have made our position clear: BAN BREED DISCRIMINATION.
